2010 Grand Marshal's Announced
2010 Poster Winner Announced
Fall Festival Chairman John Clavio announced the 2010 Parade Grand Marshal's.
This years honor was bestowed upon Brian Stevens and Dave Vanderlaan.

"If you think about what the Olympics is all about, about overcoming challenges that we
face in life and being a true team player, these two (grand marshal's) embody that
concept," stated Clavio. "They are valuable members of the community. They don't
think they are role models, but they are huge role models to me."

Despite their disabilities, both Stevens and Vanderlaan work at Frankfort's Jewel Food
store, and have been "behind the scenes guys, who are always there" for chamber
events, Clavio said.
The Frankfort Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Lincoln-Way High Schools
District 210 sponsored a poster contest for the 2010 Frankfort Fall Festival.

Over 40 entries were submitted from all four Lincoln-Way schools in the Fall Festival
Theme "Share the Spirit".

The winning entry was announced at the Chambers June Membership Meeting.   The
winning design was submitted by Lincoln-Way North student Cara Conrad.  Cara's entry
of a dancing  person  in Olympic colors with black background  will grace the cover of
the Fall Festivals Brochures as well as collectible posters and tote bags.

The chamber began the poster contest last year as a way of involving students in the
event. Cara said all members of her high school art class submitted entries.

Cara will join the U.S Navy in January and plans to pursue nuclear engineering.
Each year the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce adopts a theme for the Annual Labor
Day weekend Frankfort Fall Festival.  This year’s theme, according to the Frankfort Fall
Festival Chair, John Clavio, is “Share the Spirit”.

Frankfort Fall Festival Ranked in the Top Five in the Country
Sunshine Artist Magazine, America's Premier Art and Craft Show Magazine,
announced that the Frankfort Fall Festival has placed #4 in the nation's top-selling
arts and crafts shows.  After leaping from #41 to #9 on last years list , the Frankfort
Fall Festival has made another jump, landing in the top five for the first time.
According to Sunshine Artist, "The Frankfort Fall Festival has all the flavor of a
small-town festival with one big exception: The Crowds are not small.  Even though
this "Jewel of the South Suburbs"  has a population of only about 16,000 people,
close to 300,000 people show up from all over the Windy City metro area for this
three-day holiday event."
